Dear Members of Print and Electronic Media,

After the unprecedented success of the 33rd International Kolkata Book Fair 2009 held in the Milan Mela Prangan in 2009, the preparatory work for the Book Fair for 2010 has already commenced.

We are happy to inform you that in accordance with the calendar of Book Fairs released by the International Publishers Association, Geneva, the 34th International Kolkata Book Fair will commence form 27 January and will continue upto 7 February 2010. The Inauguration Ceremony will be held on 26 January 2010 at 4:30 pm.

We are happy to announce that this year the epicenter of literature & culture of Latin America and the home of the Noble Laureate Octavio Paz, MEXICO will be the Focal Theme for this book fair. This is because, in 2010 MEXICO will celebrate its 200 years of independence and the centenary of their revolution. On this occasion a large group of poets, writers and artists will be visiting the book fair. They will be present during the inaugural function, in the Ashok Kr. Sarkar Memorial Lecture, Sushil Mukherjea Memorial Lecture and will participate in various seminars and symposia. We hope to let you know in greater detail about the participation of Mexico in our next Press Conference.

We would most sincerely request you to continue to support this largest international festival of the book lovers as you had done over the last three decades.
